X-Ray Vision Robots

X-Ray Vision Robots

Researchers at UC Santa Barbara have used WiFi to create X-Ray Vision Robots. Electrical and Computer Engineering professor Yasamin Mostofi has been working on this project for a few years. Yasamin and her team have given robots the ability to see humans and objects that are behind thick walls.

The patented technology they have designed makes use of radiofrequency signals. The combination of automated mobility and imaging technology makes these robots very useful in certain situations. They can be used to see into areas that are difficult to access. It has been suggested that this technology may become very useful for search and rescue operations. Navigating and mapping disaster areas will be possible and the robots could also help to locate survivors.
